 New cage Questions

Hello, I have three crested geckos, two being female living in a 20 gal tank, and one male living in a 10 gal tank. I have decided to get a new tank for all three of my cresties and any babies that they might have in the future. I went online to look at some cages and whatnot and i have decided to not go with a mesh cage. Does any expert know of a good size cage for three cresties, and posibly babies soon? I was looking at the Exo terra Medium 45 x 45 x 60 cm 18" x 18" x 24" Starter kit. Does anyone have this cage or any suggestions? thank you

Firstly, do tons of research before even considering breeding the geckos, as there is a lot to look for to keep them from dieing. Breeding is not as easy as throwing a male with some females.

Second, you should have a second tank to separate them with so the females have a break period from the male. If over bred, the females can get a calcium deficiency and possibly die.

For the 3 of them, you should give them at least a 55 gallon tank and have a 20 galon to put the male in during break time.

Than, if you do get some hatchlings, you should really not leave them in the tank with the adults, as hatchlings equal yummy snack to adults. Hatchlings should be raised in their own containers, and kept in pairs (any more than two in a container can lead to fighting and nipped tails). Each hatchling pair should have at least a 5 gallon sized container and multiple food dishes

the 18x18x24 tank is about 30 gallons and would work for 2 females. you cannot keep the male with the females except for short periods of time during breeding.

the male should have his own enclosure that is at least 20 gallons (the 18x18x18 exo terra works)

you cannot ever keep the babies in with the adults. they will be eaten.

how long have you had crested geckos? i think you should probably keep them longer and research more before you think of breeding.

I have had them for about a year. I have extra 5 gal tanks for the babies, i wasnt going to throw them in with the adults ;) SO the exo tera is a good tank for the two females, and the male will take the females cage now.

that will work. the way it sounded in your first post was that you were just going to put all the babies in with the adults.

i dont think you can order from them. i think the website just shows their products and you have to buy them from other places.

i got both of mine at petsmart. they have stopped selling just the cages though. now they only sell starter sets with a bunch of junk in them.

i got my second tank for an amazing deal because it was the last cage by itself so it was discounted by a lot and the employees know me and saved it for me.

See if there are any reptile expos/conventions happening near you, I’ve got my Exo-terra tanks for half the price that any store has sold them at. I was able to get an 18x18x18 for $60, and I’ve seen them sold at $100+
