how old is yours? the little ones will be more skitish, be very gentle and let it get used to you. mine will climb up my arm, and then roam around on my back and shoulders, he’s an adult though, and very calm little guy.

Use the tecnich of hand to hand walking. Do this by allowing the gecko to climb from one hand to another, by repeatedly placing the free hand in front of it. After a few hand passes the gecko should calm down.

they actually can’t climbe smooth surfaces that well, and there would be the danger of it falling. they are relatively calm geckos and as long as you are careful they will be content to climb all over you.

Ok, i see.
But when you pick them up do you let them climb onto you like a chameleon or do you pick it up like a bearded dragon?
Thanks,
Jonny.

i don’t know how you pick up a cham, or a beardie, but i just gently cup my hand underneath mine, or put my hand in front of him, he’ll usually climb up. he will run a little bit sometimes, but only for maybe a foot at the most at a time so it isn’t difficult controlling him.

Mine climb smoother surfaces extremely well, but I surely wouldn’t encourage them to climb walls, etc, just for the safety factor. You never know. Of ours, Stanley (the male, and older) is very docile, doesn’t mind being handled (I wouldn’t say he "likes" it, but he’ll climb about without getting "jumpy". Stella (the female, sub-adult) is quite antsy yet, jumping out of your hand at the slightest chance. She also will spring about the inside of their enclosure, whereas Stanley prefers to climb cautiously. Not sure if it’s a function of age, gender, or just individual personality.
