 Not eating nectar...eating crickets though

I have a juvenile gargoyle who, when I first got him, was in a tiny plastic cage (like6x8x8" or so). In that cage, he never ate many crickets (like at 1 in the first week and a half) but was frequently making little dents in his dish of apricot baby food. He’s been in a nice big 38 gal (cause the 22gals were out of stock) mesh sided cage with lizard bark, a little cave and hanging plants for the past, oh, 3 weeks at least, and since I put him in the bigger cage, he’s been eating all the crickets I give him - like 4-6 a week - and not touching his apricot baby food. He’ll eat it off my finger if I hold him and put it right in front of his face, but I haven’t seen any evidence (dents/dips in the dish) of him eating any baby food out of the dish since he’s been in the cage. What gives? The only other thing that I did change was that I added some calcium powder to the baby food the first time I put it in the big cage. Perhaps that turned him off to it? Should I worry, or is he fine?

Also, he’s only had one complete shed in a month. How often do juvenile’s normally shed? From my experience with other types of geckos, I would expect him to shed a bit more than that, though maybe I got him right after he had shed...

Thanks for any advice!
