 Not climbing

my new gecko is not climbing.... he used to. he did just shed his skin for the first time since we got him, i did still notice some skin on his toes, and he’s been on the ground since he started shedding. is this normal, or do we have a problem?

p.s.) also is the correct term shed or molt or what???

Shed is correct......
Sometimes they need a little help getting the extra shed off their pads......

A slightly warm soak of their pads and then rub pads a little with a q-tip should do the trick!

Make sure the humidity is a little higher then normal when he/she is shedding also that helps things go smoother......

If he/she isnt climbing after a couple days after shedding I would check its pads(feet), but remember they dont like to be held alot so good luck!

Mine did the same thing just a little bit ago. I just waited until after goldie shed waited a couple of days and he started sticking to the glass again. I would just give it a little time to see if it was just because he was shedding. But if some of his shed stays stuck you’ll need to help him out by getting it off like jbnkat said.
