How is your set up? Do you have foilage or anything he/she can hide in up high? Maybe it feels stressed......
Where you able to clean off his pads at all? Or soak him?

I’ve had my golden gecko for four years now and he has never been able to stick to glass. I mist him and have foliage, he just can’t. I don’t know why though.

Check the toes of the goldie to make sure the shed is completely off. If not, give the goldie a warm soak in a lidded container (with breathing holes in the lid) for ten minutes then try to remove the stuck shed with a damp q-tip and tweezers.

There are a few reasons why a goldie wont climb. The obvious one is that it’s going to shed or that there is shed on the toes. Another is that the walls are too dry. An even more, but unpredicted, one is that the walls are too wet (you try walking up glass when it’s covered by a waterfall of slick water). The last is that the golden gecko is so stressed out and/or ill that it’s too afraid to go much of anywhere. My golden gecko didn’t climb much in the first few months I had him because he was dieing from parasites and his combined stress was making them jump in quantity. After a complete deworming and force-feeding process I’d care not to go through again, his health climbed and in consequence he started climbing everywhere in the tank.
