Is he in with you tokay???? If so I would really think about getting your golden its own tank. They need a 20 gal minimum and bigger is better with these guys.

If you have the golden and tokay together there is a very good chance they are going to fight. If they are both males there is a 100% chance this will happen. Tokay’s as I’m sure you know have a temper and don’t like to be bothered so If you’ve put a golden in with one that’s used to being alone the tokay is not going to be happy and your golden is going to get hurt and stressed. I’m not trying to be mean I just want your geckos to be happy and healthy.

Oh sorry I thought you said you just got one and put it in with the Tokay. I personally wouldn’t put another one in there. if they are doing fine and not stressing then I wouldn’t push it by putting another one in with them.

eh, unless you boiled/baked then froze the dirt, I wouldn’t use stuff directly from your backyard. Animals piss on it; fertilizers are used on it; depending on your neighborhood, pesticides could be sprayed on it; and that leaves out the bugs that could’ve laid larva in it (think mosquitos, ticks, and termites) and the small-cell organizms that could carry potential disease to your geckos.

It’s always a much, much safer option to use something made or put on a product line. It could be a block of Bed a Beast or a bag of junglemix from your petstore, or even a heaping bag of peatmoss from your garden supply store. Just try to avoid the stuff that’s been fertalized.

Mate, I just checked up on your profile and it says that you have 2 tokays and a goldie in the same 55 gallon tank. You Have to buy the goldie a 30 gallon or bigger and give it it’s own tank. The tokays together in the 55 are cramped as well. The only reason the geckos aren’t killing eachother is due to stress - they literally have no room to call seperate spaces.

You also JUST bought this goldie. So why aren’t you quarenteening it for 90 days in a seperate room? For all you know the goldie is probably loaded with Coccidia and pinworm that it’s giving to your Tokays to shorten their lives. It could also have other stuff like, dare I say, crypto, which would give all three geckos (and any other lizards that come into contact with them) a horrible, slow, suffering death from not eating and future internal bleeding.
