 Cages, feeding

what do i need to do my geckos cages. i have changed it a couple of times but i dont know what to do to keep them unstressed.i have the carpet in there now since i was told that the bark wasnt a good idea. i got a water dish, hiding rock and some wood to climb on. i put paper towls on the top of the cage to keep the humidity up. so what type substrate do i really need in there. i heard soil would be good, but im just to sure on it.

i actually fed the both of them baby food a minute ago and they ate it up. the female doesnt want to eat the crickets or meal worms at all. so what should i do?

Are you sure the female is female or just a really stressed out male? Regardlessly, if you know nothing about breeding or aren’t prepared for the consequences of the male turning on the other goldie and possibly killing it, you’re best off separating them into their own 20+ gallon tanks. Regardless of the sex of the second gecko, it’s stressed and hiding a lot because the other is dominating the tank through food and territorial aggression. Once they are separated and, if you haven’t yet, seen by a vet to rule out parasites, the one will probably start eating again.

Goldies need the tank to be at least 70% covered in material to climb and hide behind. The accessories should be on the upper parts of the tank as the golden gecko is arboreal. I recommend sticks, hammocks, pothos or other vines, and large pieces of wood slanted upwards. If you only have hiding places on the ground, they will not be content. Substrate should be something that retains humidity such as Bed a Beast, JungleMix, or unfertilized peat.
