20 per gecko, 30 would be better for one as they can grow to be a foot long after a few years. Both males and females are territorial, so expect conflict if you put more than one together.

I’ll say the same thing I said about the white-lined you inquired over in the General gecko forum: Goldies are related to the Tokay. They stress easily, have delicate skin, and are bloody stubborn, high-maitenance lizards. Handling should be little to none.

You’ll end up spending loads for it and it may stop eating on you or attempt to starve to death for sometimes little to no reasons. Many goldies come with parasites and need to be seen by a vet. If you get a healthy one and try to grab it, it’ll more than likely bite hard, deficate on you, try to drop its tail, squirm, and act like a total nightmare for you. And good luck trying to catch it if it gets loose. Sick or terribly stressed goldies will stay still, but can also slip into shock if you’re not careful.

I still highly recommend you go for the crested or gargoyle gecko. Both are easier to care for, can be handled, and will eat vegis as well as insects.
