 What size

20 gallon minimum, 30 gallon is the best, and bigger than that is always preferred.

If you’re jumping into getting a goldie after only owning a leo, I highly recommend not doing so. That’s going from the easiest gecko to one of the hardest. Goldies are expensive to keep alive, stubborn, are usually wild-caught, and are display only lizards. ^^ Fair warnings and all that.

I disagree. I find them quite easy to keep. The only thing that makes them a little harder to keep then leopard gecko is keeping the humidity high. Defiantly are not considered a hard gecko to keep.

If you’re saying that, then you definitely have not had to deal with the countless people each year that have goldies trying to starve to death from being stubborn or stressed, dieing from stress, killing tank mates, being riddled with parasites, refusing to eat anything but fruit (which is terribly addictive to them), then the handling complaints. I’ve even had to deal with a case where a young goldie spazzed out trying to escape the grip of an owner and tearing half of its back flesh off in the process. And there’s no way to compare tank setup to a leopard gecko. A leo needs 3 hides and a dish of water. A goldie needs to have a large amount (70 to 75%) of the tank covered or they’ll be stressed from the lack of hiding accessories.

Comparing the maintenance and keep of a golden gecko to a leopard gecko is like comparing keeping a cornsnake to a retic.

Comparing a cornsnake and a retic is no where near the same as comparing a leopard gecko and a golden gecko. Little bit of a size difference there. Anyways, I’m not going to go off topic.

Just because people have problems with golden geckos does not mean they are a hard to keep species. People have problems with leopard geckos too and they are easy to keep. So another words your saying they are harder to keep because you need more hiding spots, and spraying. Doesn’t sound like much more work to me.

What does a golden need? Hiding spots? A basking spot? Spray their enclosure twice a day. Doesn’t sound to difficult to me, although I have been keeping herps for quite some time.
