Amazing Story I own one golden gecko named Listo. I’ve owned him for four years now and he’s never tried to run off or anything. Well, one day I was on the computer and he was sitting by it as usual. I left for not even 5 seconds to do something and when I came back he was gone! I swear I looked everywhere. I just could not find him. After an entire month had gone by I figured he was dead. I had came back from somewhere and when I looked on our couch, guess who I saw! There was Listo sitting there! He was so weak and looked like he was at death’s door. That entire night, every hour, I fed him pedialyte and misted him. In only a week he looked like he always had. Ever since he came back it seems he has more zest for life. I still can’t over seeing him just sitting there on our couch after being gone for a whole month!

Amazing Story A golden gecko is still a wild animal and if it isn’t trying to escape and hide somewhere while out, then some thing’s wrong with it or the goldie is stressed out. It should be kept in a tank and handled minimal. The fact that you found your gecko after only a month is not that uncommon. There was a brilliant story a year or so ago where someone’s golden gecko escaped from the tank through a break in the lid and it was gone for more than a year. The guy eventually found it walking the wall in the bathroom alive and well. It lived on roaches and other wild insects the entire time.
Once again, it’s understandable since most golden geckos are wildcaught and come with their wild-taught instincts. Even then farm-bred goldies are also inherently liable to use their survival mode when free. All reptiles come with this survival mode, even the most commonly bred ones like Leos. My breeder friend only lost a leo once and found it eight months later thin, missing a tail, but alive. He was very surprised.
