 Biting

They bite just as painfully as tokays. Some are more patient than others and are more likely to hide, but once they bite, they sometimes don’t let go, and it hurts. They are a species that are for display only and shouldn’t be handled, most of the time planning an escape if you open the tank opposed to attacking you.

It’s if you antagonize the lizard or handle that you have the biggest chance of getting chewed on. When I caught Sade to take him to the vet, he grabbed onto my knuckle and did a death roll, taking out a large chunk of skin. Like with tokays, it’s better to wear gloves, use a cloth, or usher the gecko into a box opposed to bare handed handling - and handling should only be limited to tank cleaning and vet trips.

The only time you handle a goldie and it doesn’t either bite you or run away is when the goldie is very ill - which is common in the pet trade as most are wild caught and full of parasites.
