how much should I use? like how many inches on the bottom of the tank should there be?

It says it can fill a 40 gallon, but I just soaked an entire brick and threw it in. It covers the floor of a 10 gallon tank up about an inch.

So yeah. Just use the entire brick =P Then you can scoop the poop once a week ;)

I find those things a pain to take apart in brick form. You’d need, like, a chainsaw.

And if you have more than one tank. Then just mulch the whole brick and dish the bucketfull in halves.

i don’t think you should use bed-a-beast b/c my friends lizard swallowed it expand in its stomach and it died the next day

Never heard of that happening before. And it would really depend on the lizard, eh? I personally would never put my leo on bed a beast because ground geckos are known for randomly consuming the ground under their feet If it’s fine or particalized.

The ONLY way I see that happening otherwise is if it’s a huge lizard that has the ability to consume that much, it’s an arid lizard and the bedabeast dried out. Or your friend didn’t add water to the brick.

Bed-A-Beast, Natures Bed, and Eco-Earth are all a ground up coconut husk fiber and are used because they will pass through Tree Frogs and Lizards etc. with no ill effects or Impaction. That’s why I use it for most of my tanks.
