LOOK AT WHAT I FOUND TODAY !!!

I’ve been reading alot of posts lately about eggs. I’ve had the same two Goldens together for about a year. I bought them both at the same local petstore. I’ve always said that it would be cool for them to breed, but I never thought it would happen. Until today when I was changing the water and doing my spot check I saw these.

I’ve read to duct tape a deli (styrofoam) cup over the eggs. The eggs are attached to a vine and the glass, so I can’t remove the vine. How long does it take for them to hatch ? This is the first time for me, so I will need some guidance from someone with experience with eggs. Thanx !!

no experience with eggs, but I read up that they take 6 weeks to hatch. ^^` and I learned that they stick to the surface like GLUE.

I was lucky ... I went to put a cup over the eggs to protect them and I was too late, they were gone. : ( There’s always next time.

Hey,

I breed Tokays and they look like tokay eggs!! If the vine is on the glass of the tank, maybe you can get a nice size deli cup and cut it up to fit the over the vine and eggs.. But you do definitly want to protect the eggs. Geckos are prone to egg their eggs or they can get knocked off the vine and crack. While you are covering up the eggs make sure the vine doesn’t move or anything because you never know how well the eggs are glued to the vines.. Make sure you remove the female or who ever is protecting the little eggs.. Try to get them to move away on their own, but if not you can push them slowly, but Don’t lift them up, you can cause them to move the vine or mess up their little feet. If they are not there then you are all set to go to cover up the little eggs. Make sure, its nice and toasty in there as well for the little eggs to keep warm and a tab bit damp so I would but a wet sea spouge or a piece of damp towal in there. Make sure its not touching the egg, and keep the egg dry at all times also poke tiny holes in it for air, but not big enough for crixs to fit in there.

I am not sure how long it takes Goldie eggs to hatch, but for my tokays it took a good 160 days..

So good luck! I hope they hatch!! Keep us posted!!

Hia I’m a student studying animal care and just to let you know that if you buy 2 of wat eva reptiles from the same pet store you should always destroy the eggs coz they are probably related and the young will come out deformed. Unless you can get prove that they are not related I strongly advise you to destroy the eggs. Just thought I’d let you know coz i know alot of people who have that mistake and wouldn’t want you to do the same and end with a cluch of deformed geckos.

Considering that almost all of the Golden Geckos bought from petstores are wildcaught, there is probably little to no chance that the geckos are actually related. Most petstores use several suppliers to get their animals, depending on what’s the cheapest that week typically.
