Rack System help
I have 15 leo’s as of now. I hatched 6 last summer. but ITS getting crowded with tanks everywhere I would like to look into a either good price rack system or create my own. Problem is i really don’t understand the heating part ? can anyone give any suggestions i would be greatly helpful or building ideas ?. thanks in advanced Christina |

(as well as drilling holes for air in the sides of the tubs 3/16" size is ok) keep all the wires and heat tapes the same exact length, and don’t use the heat tape upside down. knowledge of electrical wiring is good, as you’ll be hooking up dimmers/rheostats, or thermostats.... there are many how-tos available... the heat tape is called flexwatt, it is available many places as well... for a rack i would suggest a rheostat, NOT a thermostat, b/c w/thermostats you will need to set up a empty dummy box for the probe, and if it comes undone for any reason, you will fry the rack while the thermostat tries to compensate for the probe not being near the heat source...this has happened to people, and the extreme heat can cause neurological damage in young ones that is irreversable.. also, for the rack you may need 2 "zones", mine is warmer on the top half than the bottom half, so i have two zones, where i can adjust them independant of each other... -D |
