Lost all but one, but now have 2 more!

i only have one good egg left as of this morning. a little later today i realized that she layed two more in her water bowl! that’s the first time she’s ever done that in two years. they seemed okay and were still pretty soft when i put them in the incubator. so do you think that the water hurt them? i know for a fact they’re not dehydrated, lol! but i know too much can hurt them. since they weren’t completely hard yet i don’t think they were there too long, however i don’t know if they will harden in the water. i’m just confusing myself i think, lol!

and i’m sooo excited my one egg that’s left has been incubating for about 34 days! that means it isn’t that much longer! the temps have been around 83-85 depending on out weather here. one day it’s 80 and then it will drop down to 60 the next. i know that fluctuation can’t be good for them. i try to adjust the incubator as best i can. i’m just sooo happy that one baby really looks good and like he’s gona make it. one more thing is that i "candled" it again today and i saw maybe a tiny bit of pink on the top, but i really couldn’t see anything else. i’m guessing that it’s just the baby blocking the light from coming through? just thinking about it makes me feel like a little kid again lol!

Hey! congrats! 34 days already! Not much longer! If you candle and its still glowing pink but mostly black or solid then that means the baby is almost fully developed. Be expecting the baby within days. Goodluck with your other eggs too :)

okay so new question...the new eggs she layed yesterday i noticed are a lot longer in length than the one that is 34 days along? do they normally shrink? i never noticed it before today. they look really good today, i guess i caught them on time in the water bowl.

Hmm normally eggs swell up when they are older and ready to hatch. It could just be the female was more ready for this clutch and you ll prolly be looking at some healthy babies soon.

oh god. that makes me worry about my egg that’s almost ready. it seems rather small compared to the other two. and (sorry i know i’m just full of questions) about the new eggs... one i can’t really tell any pink in it yet. the other one has kind of a blob of pink on the top? is that normal? i don’t know because i’ve never candled them this early.

Dont worry too much when candling that early. Leave it to atleast 3-4 days. The pink blob is a good sign of a healthy baby to come. The other one if left alone for a week will probably develop. Most pairs laid together are either both fertile or duds. Ofcourse Ive had one good and one bad before but with the size and how quick you got to the egg I would think they are good. Candle again in a few days and give some good news. i also got a pair that just laid on Sunday and Im looking forward to candling them ;)

i candled them again and the pink blob looks more defined...well as a bigger pink blob. the whole egg isn’t glowing pink, just the top of it. and the other one doesn’t have a blob, it seems as if it glows half yellow and half pink. i don’t know the outcome. it’s been 6 days and they still look good. so i guess i’ll just have to wait and see if they make it. my one other egg is now 40 days in the making. i haven’t candled it since last time. i’m too nervous i’ll mess it up, lol. since the temps are around 83-85 how much longer do you think it will be for this little guy?

at 83-85 degrees im gonna guess around 50+ days. Most females hatch out around 60 but since you re closer to to a mixed temp, id say you got about a week of waiting to do ;)

well now that i looked at the eggs again... the 2 new eggs were longer but definitely skinnier. the older egg is a little bit shorter in length but it is much more rounded and fatter than the others. so i think all is well. i’m checking them everyday, can’t wait until the new little guy gets here.
