 Getting them to breed

should i keep my male separate than his 3 females if I want them to breed, then put him in for a short time every other day? How do I get him to breed with them, cause somethings not working, and all of my aquarium is like a day spa for geckos!! What’s going on?

 Getting them to breed

males should not be housed permanently with females because he will overbreed them and stress them out.

i would reccommend placing the male with the females for maybe 2 days, and keep an eye on them. since females can store sperm for an entire season there is no reason to continually breed them.

also, im assuming that you’re not planning to breed them right now. the breeding season is from feb through aug, and this period is needed to cool your breeders, or at least be spent to get them to their proper weight. if you are trying to breed them now, there is a possibility that the problem is because of the timing.

 Getting them to breed

i house my male females all together and have never found an issue i have 3 females and one male in a tank and they wont get stressed out cuz they male can go to diffrent females not always they same one so its ok to house them together just pick which tank you want them all in take every thing out wash it all down so there is no scent in there and then place every thing back in this way they wont fight either. as for the winter cool down its possible to have them hybernate but its not needed you can breed your geckos every year and have them not winter for a period of time in the spring youll have some eggs but if this is your first year dnt get your self down if you dnt have any babies alot of the time females in thier first year of breeding wont lay ferile eggs but incubate them just incase last year i had 25 eggs and produced 2 babies that hatched and had some die in the egg on me so its all trial and error your first year but you learn on experiance

 Getting them to breed

Hi, here is my opinion from personal experience of breeding.
Ok, if you have more then 2 females, then I would keep them all together year long. Provide plenty of hides and this will reduce stress. You can put them together now if you want. Wont change anything.
If you provide a cooling period which I suggest. this provides them a sense of seasonal change. As the cooling stops and temps get increased again (spring), females will ovulate and males will start to breed.
Geckos dont go into hibernation but just a slow down period. They will sleep more and reduce energy usage. Feeding will slow down also. At January’s end, i boost the temps up and the geckos just do the breeding themselves. Not really much to it.
Hope you have all the incubation equipment set up. :) goodluck

 Getting them to breed

yes. in nature thats when the temperatures start to drop so to conserve energy they move less and tend to eat less.
