 Plastic cages

I’m living in an apartment with 3 other girls this summer and space is tight. Do you think I can move my gecko in a tank that’s 5-10 gallons for a few months without stressing her out? I was thinking about getting a plastic tank, but can I still use a UTH and a light without burning the place down? I have my gecko in a 20 gallon glass tank right now.

Yeah you could. But only if space is tight...

A 10 gallon is much better than a 5. I’d go with the 5 gallon...

Just my opinion.

And yes, you could use a heating pad. Make sure the plastic is hard plastic though...

Hope I helped some...

When I first I got my beardie I kept him in a Sterilite clear plastic tub for about 6 months. He did fine, and I used a 75-100 watt basking lamp without any problems. His container was about 33in long, 16in wide, and 20in high so there was plenty of air circulating in there to keep the plastic from heating up. I’m not sure how it would work out in a small 5 or 10 gallon container.

Go to target or walmart and get a rubbermaid storage bins. They are light and easy to move and clean. You could keep your gecko in a rubbermaid for as long as you wanted

Also a desk light works great, without burning the plastic. I also have my UTH and have had no problems.

Just use the heat pad, no need for a heat light. they really dont do anything except bother the gecko.

Okay, cool. I’ll just rip off the one I have on my 20 gal and put it on that new tank until I move out.

What’s a good cleaning solution I can use to clean out my tank? Can I just use some antibacteria spray or some bleach, or do I need to get somethin special?

eh...that doesn’t sound great...
Would there be a screen top? Air curc? Light? They should have some light in the daytime...it just doesn’t sound good.

A 10 gallon tank for a few months should be fine as long as it has all the necessary hides and everything. 5 gallon is too small.

Yeah I think I will just go ahead and use a 10 gal because there’s no room in a 5 gal. My gecko has gotten big over the past month. She needs room to play.

Many people have used plastic tanks for a long time. You don’t need anything on top, geckos are not great climbers. I keep a light on in the daytime, and turn off at night. I use a plastic tub and its alot easier than my 20gallon to clean and keep steril. And as for air circulation if you don’t have the lid on you get plenty of air. Plus many breeders keep all their leos in plastic rack systems. Is fine.

Use whatever you want, but all Im saying is its fine.
