 LOL MY Leo Eat Calcium Like Candy!

LOL last night I was in my reptile room making sure everyone was set for the night, until came to Squirt, LOL he had his face in the calcium licking away! That should be good because I haven’t given him too much calcium until I got jurasical last weekend. Has anyone else seen this happen?

When I first got my gecko from the petstore, he ate it and ate it and ate it. Now that he gets it on a regular basis on his crickets, and in his dish if he wants, unlike in the petstore, he hardly ever licks it up. I think it just depends on the gecko, lol. =] G.T.

Funny you should mention that- mine went without it for a few weeks and i put it back in last night and she chowin it and even tried to eat the cap it was in lol!

Yes, they NEED it. It is important so they can get calcium when they feel that they need it.

so just regular calcium from a petstore and put it in a dish? what about calcisand or does that cause impaction?

Well calcium made for gekcos and yep put it in a dish and leave in tank.

Calcisand can cause impaction, but not necessaily right away. Some leos are fine on it. I use paper towel; as I feel it is cheap and easy to clean.

If you use Reptical..be sure it’s the one WITHOUT D3 if you’re leaving it in their tank. I have seen all of mine lick the calcium out of their dishes...they seem to really like it
