 Feeding items...

Just curious, looking for a cricket alternative....

Earthworms? Not wild caught, farm bred.
Not whole obviously they are too big, but cut up.

I know they would eat them but is it a good staple?
They are for many lizards... I know they are not in their wild environment...

But they are good for like Bearded Dragons, Water Dragons and many others....

Just curious if I could feed it as a staple.....
Of course i have variety.... just curious....

I wouldn’t feed earthworms to a leo, nor are they good for bearded dragons as a staple.

I would go with silkworms or roaches. Much healthier than even crickets are for them. For roaches, I would go with Lobster roaches.

olease don’t hijack a thread. Start a new one.
But...

think of it this way. Do you like to eat the same thing every single day? Geckos need variety and cetain things have more nutrients than others.

I will never feed any of my reptiles those horrible worms.
Have had bad experiences with them....

I know that other items are good but does all of this mean no they cant eat them? Or they can but they shouldnt....

whats the deal

thanks everyone

http://www.mulberryfarms.com/horn2.htm

great place to get roaches, silkworms, phoenix worms - all sorts of things to vary the diet. Variety is best. The site has a chart to see the nutritional value of each item. Mix it up with high protein, then high calcium, maybe a waxworm for desert :) Remember that high nutrition foods (waxworms/hornworms/pheonix worms) shouldn’t be an every day thing or your leo will get fat and sluggish. Crickets or silkworms are the most recommended staple foods, roaches and meal worms are ok too.

I would stay away from earthworms - as i’ve never heard of anyone feeding that to a leo.
