Are my gecko’s Ready to breed?
I have one Tremper Albino Male, And one High Yellow Carrot Tail Female. The Female weighs Fifty-Six Grams and The male weighs Fifty-Four Grams. The Female is Eighteen months old and the Male Seventeen Months Old. They Both have huge tails and are fed gut loaded crickets and phoenix worms and meal worms which are always dusted with calcium. I also have a home made incubator that keeps it 82 degrees the whole day. So my questions are: What morph will my geckos make? How much should my geckos Weigh? Am i feeding them properly? What Temp should my incubator be kept at? Are they old enough for breeding? Do you have and pics of what my geckos offspring will look like? ill post really old pics of them: Leo: Shia: |

Yes your geckos are big enough and old enough to breed. The rule of thumb for females is over 55 grams (so they don’t get egg bound), fat tail and are at least a year (preferably a year and a half to two years old) so that they are fully mature. Downside, it’s also a rule of thumb, to not over sex or stress the female to have a 2:1 ratio (min) female to male ratio. Now lets talk temps, since your feeding sounds fine. Are you dusting with Calcium with or without d3, since your going to be making eggs that will take a great amount of calcium out of your females. So you need a dish in her cage that has calcium without D3 in it at all times and dust her food with calcium w/ d3 like twice a week. Temps for incubation: 80-83 degree all female off spring 84-86 50/50 ratio 87-89 All males 90-92 All female (macho females) As for what offspring you’ll get I have no idea, haven’t done research on the different morphs yet. |

Put them together and leave them together indefinitly checking for stress on occasion such as weight loss, etc. Feed them and keep a small dish of calcium powder in the enclosure. You’ll see two eggs (sometimes one) in her belly when she’s gravid. Keep a moist hide in the enclosure filled with a substrate that will retain moisture. I use a tupperware container with a hole cut in it filled with moist coco-peat. They’ll use this as a humid hide and the female will lay her eggs in it. Don’t stress or overthink as it’s very easy. Good luck. |
