 New to the forum and i have a few questions

hello everyone, i’m new to this forum and i’ve got a couple of questions. i’m very interested in getting a leopard gecko so ive been doing some research on them, but there were some things that i couldnt find out....is it better to feed them meal worms or crickets? how many of these would a leo eat in a week approximately? and would it be ok to feed a leopard gecko nightcrawlers? i think ive done enough research to be able to take care of a leo but i would just like to know how much money i would be spending on food for him(oh btw, the crickets here are 10 cents each if i remember correctly)......any help that u guys can give me is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Welcome.

Mealworms and Crickets bot have there pros and cons. It’s a matter of preference of what you would like to feed the geckos. A little of both wouldn’t hurt them at all. As long as the insects are properly dusted/supplemented with, it should be all good. Yeah, Crickets at my local pet store are 8 cents a piece. I think that is outrageous. I order some my Cricktes and Mealworms at reptilesupply.com They are great to do buisness with.

It really depends on how much your Leopard Gecko will consume. You should offer them all they can eat food for 15 minutes a day. This will allow them to eat till they get full but not over stuff themselves. On average, they should be eating 8-15 Crickets/Mealworms a day. When they start to mature (1+ years) and they are in good weight, you can start to feed every other day.

ok great, thanks for the advice, ur a great help. yeah, prices are ridiculous here.....oh and i also checked that website but they had nothing there for feeders......are they just out of stock or something???? anyways thanks again for the help hacksaw! my only problem now is going to be finding a way to pay for its food if i get one......(i’m only 15 and i just started a new school year so i cant get a job to pay for the food and i only get 5 bucks a week in allowance......that being said, i do have a good bit of money saved up so i’ll be able to pay for it for a while...)
