Let me start by saying, it is a very nice, creative setup, but is not suitable for a Leopard Gecko’s needs. They spend most of their time on the ground, hiding in warm, dark, and quiet hides. I prefer Exo-Terra brand medium hides. 2 should be placed on each side, one warm hide and another cool. In the middle (or wherever you prefer) you can use a medium Zoo-Med 3-in-1 cave, you can place papeer towels, moss, or anything that holds humidity well in there and mist it 2-3 times daily to keep it moist, they need this moist hide to help aid in shedding. You can also make homemade hides. Also, a solid substrate should be used. Reptile Carpet comes in colors of Green or Brown, Newspaper, paper towel, etc. |

I have read many care sheets and they are like frog care sheets half of them don’t agree. lol There are actually hides in there with damp moss, in them but they are hard to see. The block in the right front corner is just a half of a block, there is damp moss in there, to the left of that there is a small flower pot with damp moss in it. And the big piece of wood has damp moss in it also. The eco earth on the bottom is packed down and then has river rocks on top of that. I will be getting another hide for the back left corner, soon. So does that sound better than you thought? |

I like your setup. It would be perfect for a frog, but not a leopard gecko. If you change a few things, I think it will be perfect! Now onto answering your question. Quote: So if I change to the carpet or paper towel, how often does it need to be changed?
I would suggest you switch to paper towels instead of carpet. Paper towels make it easy and fast to clean. Carpet is hard to clean and wash. I use paper towels for my three leopard geckos. I am really un-sure of what the humidity gauge should read (wow, that’s sad). I now that you need a digital theromater. You can get these at walt mart for $10.00. I myself do not have one, but people say that you need one. I use those humidity gauges that you have. My leopard geckos do just perfect without a digital one. I do plan on buying a few next week though when I go to walt mart. Sorry if I have not been much of a help. I tried. :) ~Emma |

What do you feed your geckos? Do you feed several different things or just crickets? Do you have a dish in your tank with calcium or vitamins or both? Please, everyone chime in here and give me so advice. Reading care sheets hasn’t gotten me very far. Lol |

I know how hard it is to explain to people and make them understand the importance of making sure their tanks are set up correctly. And I know how confusing all the different care sheets can be. I do like reading the care sheets, but I like getting the first hand knowledge too. Thanks again everyone! |
