Mealworm Breeding Problems? I started a colony maybe a month to a month and a half ago, and now they’re all either pupae or beetles. I have like, hundreds of beetles, but they’re not producing any eggs, or the eggs aren’t hatching.
What am I doing wrong? I’m out of mealworms and had to order 1,000 more.

Mealworm Breeding Problems? haven’t really started a colony although I have a bunch that are doing something. I have the beetles and the step before... I thought they all died off actually then I had a bunch of small mealworms in there. Either A) the eggs haven’t hatched yet or B) they haven’t grown enough for you to see them, cause they start off TINY.

Mealworm Breeding Problems? seriously, don’t stress it too much.....i did the same exact thing it was quite awhile and i was thinking i put something inside the bedding that was bad or something and then one day almost 2 months later i picked up a handful of bedding and realized it was crawling with the little guys...they are SO small its definitely hard to see them unless you really sit there for a minute and gaze......good luck though im sure you will notice them in no time

Mealworm Breeding Problems? I hope so. I feel really bad, though, because I ran out of mealworms and now my geckos haven’t eaten for a week, and I still have to wait for the 1,000 more to come in. I resorted to feeding them a couple beetles because I didn’t have anything else.
I heard how easy it was to breed mealworms, and I’ve been trying, yet there’s nothing.

Mealworm Breeding Problems? No. I weaned them off crickets and now they won’t eat anything except for mealworms. Only one of them wanted to eat the darkling beetles, so the rest are going hungry.

Mealworm Breeding Problems? I’ve had beetles for so long now & I am starting to wonder the same thing. I read somewhere that the beetles will eat the eggs, so if by any chance at all you see any of them, I’d recommend taking them out. I haven’t had any luck seeing any, so... I dunno what I can say. Does anyone perhaps have pictures of mealworm eggs so we know what we’re looking for? I bought a larger container for my beetles recently but still, nothing. Perhaps I will get lucky somehow. I had to go buy more meal worms as well because every single day there are roughly 7-10 more pupae in the mealworm container. Best of Luck!

Mealworm Breeding Problems? Be patient. I am sure you have thousands of baby worms, they are just too small to see. It takes a while to get a colony going, but one you get one, it’s well worth it. I started back last November, and haven’t had to buy a single mealie since around Christmas time. In fact, it’s going so well that it’s turning into a very time-consuming hobby. Plus, I have so many mealies that I am having to give them away before they die or pupate! Just last week, I gave a colony of about 800 beetles to a friend so he can start breeding his own worms for his leos. Hang in there...it will take off soon
