Your gecko is nocturnal. Crickets tend to come out of hiding during the night just in time for your gecko to catch them.

Don’t waste your money on dead bugs.

You can also try using mealworms (live) if you’d prefer. Put them in a small dish and your gecko will eat out of the dish at night.

try putting a small dish with carrots and such in the tank. it will draw the crickets out, just dont leasve it in too long or it’ll rot and get smelly.

Also, food variety is best - try sites like MulberryFarms.com for more nutritious foods that dont run away - like silkies and goliaths :)

What I do is put the crickets in a container and put them in the fridge for 10 mins maybe 15. It slows them down and makes them sleep. Then I put them in the cage with my leo and they slowly start to move she runs at them and eats them up.

I do the same thing quite often so that theya re slower. I have to take the whole top off the tank in order to feed and I hate having the bigger crickets jump right back outagain, ususally onto me...

i remove his house and rocks until he eats. once he’s done (i sit and watch for the 5-10 minutes), i take whatever he doesn’t want and replace his stuff. that way they don’t hide. i use carpet too.

hey. about the mealworms in the bowl thing....do the mealworms not climb out of there? bc when i put mealworms in the tank for my leo they always end up crawling towards the edge of the tank to hide between the edges of my substrate and the sides of the tank. those little guys can crawl between just about anything it seems like. i always figured they’d crawl right out of the bowl, so i never thought to do it.

If you have a bowl that’s tall enough (all smooth edges) that they can’t just get out but is low enough that your gecko can still get into it, you should be fine. I personally wait for my gecko to come out & drop them relatively close to him one at a time until he doesn’t touch them for a few minutes. Patient process, but I get to watch him eat, so it’s cool.
