 Question??

Hello! OK so i have 3 Leo’s, 2 are housed together in a 20 long, one has its own tank, the 2 that are together have been tank mates forever....i bought them together and have had them together for close to a year. i believe they are female and male, but are not sexually active. the one by itself (Juggernaut) is female, older and bigger, and has always been alone. we made the mistake of trying to combine them, we used a separate tank so no territory issues. unfortunately the big one bit the littlest one and it lost its tail, i was under the impression because of that they were both males, now i believe they are both females. either way i am not sure how to go about putting them together..... i don’t know if the big one got aggressive due to never being with another one or what.....any suggestions?? also i read that the 2 that our housed together should be separated....they are not aggressive towards each other or anything like that, in fact they are inseparable, and often look for one another if separated.... is it OK to leave them together, can i try to combine all 3? any suggestions would be much appreciated!! Thanx!

 Question??

How can you be sure that your male and female that are together arent breeding? I mean, you cant watch them all the time so its possible that she is gravid.

Some females dont get along, in that case they cant be housed together. She could be aggresive because of being much bigger, maybe shes a "hot" female, or maybe it is because she hasnt been with other leos.

I would say seperate your male and female only to prevent unwanted breeding. They wont be "lonley" or "miss" each other. Most leos do better alone anyways.

The problems with combining all three would be that; the female would bully the other female as it did before, the new female would trigger the males breeding instincts and then you would have TWO gravid females on your hands, territorial problems, or the biggest one would bully for food.

 Question??

No questions a stupid question, if you dont ask how will you learn? =]

To see if shes carrying eggs just look at her tummy. If she wont let you flip her over, just put her on a piece of glass or in a see-through bowl, then look. You will see two big white ovals if shes gravid. If you go to google there will be pictures of this since i dont have any.

If you have any more questions just ask =]

 Question??

ok....so i was very wrong, and you were VERY right!!! she is gravid. she doesnt come out very much and i looked last night and WOW. she is very plump and i could see the white ovals in her tummy. my question now is aprox. how long before she lays them? 2nd question is i should separate her from the male right? and what would be the best for a cage bottom for her to lay them on....paper towels??? will it stress her out if i put her in her own cage, a new and unfamiliar one? ok thats alot of questions but i super appreciate yor help!!!!

 Question??

How long it takes her to lay will depend how far along the eggs are.
Make a moist hide with moist peat moss or bead-a-beast in the bottom. My females lay in a combination of both.

Yes, i would remove the male. Having one male in with only one female is risky because he can easily over-breed her and she will become very stressed.
To prevent stress to your girl, i would put the male in a different cage insted of moving the female. After she lays this clutch then you could move her. I just wouldnt stress her out so close to laying.

Are you going to be incubating the eggs?

 Question??

actually we have a friend with an incubator, he breads bearded dragons so we are going to have him incubate them for us....he has much more experience too. she is also shedding, and normally she would work on getting it off her right away but today she went into the moist hide and just laid there....is she ok? she is still eating, she has plenty of water and a dish with calcium....anything else i should do?

 Question??

She should be fine. My females get really lazy and anxious around lay time. They will stop eatting before laying too so that will be a sign.

Its sounds like you have everything you need!
