Stuck shed IN the eye... please help.

One of my girls had a bad shed and has shed stuck in "on" the eye and it’s kinda got me worried because I’m thinking its blinding her from finding food etc. Anyway, what can I do to get it out. I’ve been gently swabbing the eye with water and kinda got one of them somewhat cleared out to restore vision but the other one still has a solid white look to it for mthe stuck shed. She has been losing weight and I’ve been trying to correct the problem but this stuck shed on her eye isnt going to help matters if she cant find her food.

Hey,

I’ve had this problem before with one of the foster leos I had for the summer.

Instead of using water which can be harsh on the eye it would be better to use a sensitive eyes saline solution (super inexpensive to buy). First I rinsed the eye with the solution but the stuck shed was to stubborn. So I held the leo while my daughter extremely gently pulled the shed out her eye with a damp cotton swab. The stuck shed came out in two seconds but if you do this please be cautious.

You’re right you need to get that shed as soon as possible. The leo we had with stuck shed was already blind in the other eye from the previous owners neglect.

Please let us know how it goes.

Holly

Saline doesnt seem to have done much... when I’m well rested and can see better I’m gonna have to go against all advice ever given on this forum and work around the eye under the lid with tweasers. I dont have $80 or more for a vet right now seeing as how I’ve been on unemployment for two years. That aside... I’ll def need to attempt something by the end of the week if I have any hopes of my girl getting her lost weight back. She does seem to be shedding more than normal but my guess is that its her body trying to fix what it knows is wrong.

Also, if anyone is near the Meadville Pa area within oh lets say a one way 2hr drive and could lend some assistance with my problem I’d be willing to make the trek for my girl.

Another thing that I think is makin the shed so stubborn is that I think it’s still stuck to the lid itself like it hasnt released yet or something. Only reason I say that is because shes had stuck shed in tthe eye before but I’ve always managed to get it all out with just my fingers and a damp cotton swab.

Also, if someone lives close and wants to adpot her that can give he better care than I currently can I’d gladly give her up if it meant her having somewhat of a better life than she currently does.
