Did I noob it ? or good idea ok so I bought a red light, infrared light heater from a farm store for chicks, (I mean baby chickens) incubatoer style, My light sticks out of the lamp i can just set it on the tank, the lamps is a clamper, Its a fluckers lamp, with a chick incubater light on it, lamps and light r rated for 250 watts, the lamp I got from a pet store, light, farmer store ( and i got ripped off, i payed 25 for the lamp, petsmart has the same one for 10 bucks !!) anyways thats what i did, are they the same as a petstore one > ? or is it supuosed to all be inside the lamp ? it still works, just sticks out, oh and it brought my tank up from 68 to about 72 degrees, I decided to use it on my scorp tank for now because I have nowhere to clamp it in lizard town, and all i had in the scorptank was a hotrock. Ive now taken it out, and have just the lamp, I shouldev bought everything from the farm store, way better priced, ( that is if i dont buy off the net ), So anyway, my question is , is a red incubator light for chicks ok for lizards and such ?

Did I noob it ? or good idea Infared lights are perfect for lepoard geckos; they give off heat waves not seen by the gecko. However, there are a few concerns. One is your temperature. You say the temperature is 72 degrees? Your gecko thinks it’s winter at this point. They need a hot side of at least 90 degrees. If not, many complications will arise and he will die, understand? Second, geckos are belly heaters, and the absolutley need to get heat from a source they can lay on. Don’t use heat rocks, they burn geckos, but rather use an undertank heater. A bulb will not give it the heat it requires.

Did I noob it ? or good idea ok Well i already have an undertank heater under there. I have a hotrock that says it turns off when it gets to a certain degree. is that ok ? just a little something else to warm the tank area, could I wrap it in a clothe or something ? the thermometer reads about 25 degrees, atm but there is a heatmat, thats where he always like s to stay is that becase its so cold ?

Did I noob it ? or good idea Yes he is probably cold that is most likley why he stays there. Hot rocks are bad no matter what you do with them. They are better to use as decoration
