 About tile flooring

For my first Leopard gecko, Jewel, I used repticarpet, and I hated it! Her claws and teeth would snag in the fibers and I could never keep it clean. So when I got my second leo, Glacier, I used slate tile for the substrate instead, and I am never looking back! I attached the heating mat to the outside of the bottom of the tank, then I laid down paper towels with the tile on top. Tile is a lot easier to clean, I can just pull it out and soak them in a water/bleach solution and they’re nice and clean. Tile distributes heat easily, and if you get tile that is textured it keep your leo’s claws filed down a bit so they’re not quite so sharp. I would not attach the heating mat directly to the tile, if you spill water on the tile it could damage the mat and cause an electricity hazard. Same thing with having the heating mat inside the tank. Hope this helps!

Yeah, don’t used glazed tile. Use slate/stone-like tile.
