Couple questions about Tokays...
1) I have always heard that tokays bark, loud noises, etc.. However, mine has never done that. At least not when I have ever been around nor has my family ever heard it. I believe it to be a she, so I wonder if that might play into it some? 2) When I first bought her, I was slowly able to get to pet her a few strokes then she’d scurry off somewhere. However, after I moved her to a bigger cage, it went down-hill. I can still reach my hands in the cage and I’m even able to leave the door open for a short while and she won’t make a break for it, however, as off last night, I petted down her side once, then when I did it a second time, she whipped around to bite. I guess my question is is it possible that when she was transfered to a new cage, she became more aggressive? 3) Finally ( I know you all are probably tired of me by now. :-P ) I am interested in getting a baby Tokay some time in the future, but only have enough room for one cage. Common sense tells me it is a bad idea to place a small one in there as she may think of it as food, but I figured I would get communal advice on it. I love tokays, and I can’t really see myself getting any other kind of lizard... Any advice? If you’ll want, I’ll post pics up of the cage and of Spartacus. ( Okay, I realize that Spartacus is a male name. I named it before I sexed it. :-P ) |

2) Yah in the first enviro it got comfortable but as for the move, it will take some time for it to get comfortable and then in a few months it’ll let you. At first, mine used to whip around to bite even if it was just the tip of the tail. Now mine lets me touch her up to her back, then she’ll turn around for a sec like ’ok thats enough’ and then walk off. 3) Tokays are territorial and aggressive, so I wouldnt but maybe someone else has a diff opinion. |

Make sure they both are sexed probably! otherwise you’ll have a dead one.... I agree with smellbell on the other two comments! |

I beg to differ. Mine calls and makes noises all the time late at night. I can pretty reliably tell you when it’s going to rain here because my male starts up. |
