Tokay eating habits So i’m new to the tokay’s. I’ve had mine for about a month. The pet store told me to feed him around 6 crickets every other day. She might eat 10 per week. She is full grown. Is this normal? I have started offering her meal worms (large ones). She’ll eat one per night. I’m not sure if she’s a little on the thin side either. She may be fine but I’m not sure. She’s in a 10 gallon tank, with a leafy spot for hiding and a branch. She has a water dish but is also misted atleast two times per day. The temp in the cage stays around 75F but has a hotter side thats around 80-85F (where the UTH is). I’ve thought about maybe moving the UTH to the side of the tank instead of underneath if the temp was the problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

Tokay eating habits She looks very skinny. You might want to get a vet to check her for parasites or other health issues. My Tokay eats around a dozen crickets every other day. Here’s a picture of her for comparison.

You can also try feeding her worms too. A 10 gallon tank doesn’t give your girl enough height to feel secure and she needs a lot of plants to hide behind. Here’s what I have my girl in.

I actually have a lot more plants in there now, but I can’t find my camera.
This is an 18"l x 18"w x 19"h exo terra. She’s running around every night in it. She loves hanging on the screen top. Anyway, my main suggestions would be to get her a taller enclosure and get her to a vet.
Good luck.

Tokay eating habits If you can’t afford a much bigger tank, I would suggest a 20. I have about 18 tokays and they are all kept in their own 20gal tanks. They have plenty of hiding spots and a large water bowl. My geckos gained about 50 grams in about 6 months feeding them 7-8 crickets 4 days a week. I also mist about 5-6 times a day (we finally designed a automatic feeding system!), their humidity needs to be right for them to want to eat.

Tokay eating habits he’s finally eating better. he’s been getting calcium supplement as well, and i’ve been able to get the humidity up. i also had the parasite check done and he was clean, so i think it was just the heat and humidity that was bugging him.
