My Tokay’s are still laying eggs It’s been a very productive breeding season this year. Thought I’d post a couple of pictures of eggs laid this season for you guys to look at. All the eggs in the coconut basket where actually scraped off of the place they were laid. I had always heard it couldn’t be done but I kinda lucked on to a way to do it but you do have to out smart them by "baiting the trap" so to speak. Glad to share with you if anyone is interested...

My Tokay’s are still laying eggs Wow, that is a lot of eggs. Are you trying to hatch any of them? We didn’t have such good luck last season with our Tokay eggs. Only one hatched and sadly he passed away later. What was worse is we lost the mom too. I think she just couldn’t handle the poor treatment she had before she came to us. The bf got a new female but she needs to get bigger before we even try mating her.
Good luck with the eggs if you are planning on hatching them.

My Tokay’s are still laying eggs So question...since you’re probably pretty knowlegeable about the babies and what not. I saw a baby at Pet Expo and his head was huge and his body looked way little as if he was sickly...but are Tokays just like that? I mean have a huge head and a tiny little body when they’re little? I have a feeling it probably wasn’t getting to eat as much as it should either because they have it house with 3 or 4 medium to larger Tokays and I know you shouldn’t do that because the baby will probably be bullied and not be able to eat. If he’s still there today I was actually maybe considering getting him. I want a baby because I don’t mind being bit, but I think it would be alot better from a baby than an adult. I didn’t mean to jack your thread, I was just curious is all.

My Tokay’s are still laying eggs No problem, your assumption on the little Tokay at the pet shop is most likely correct. When they are housed together they quickly develop whats called a "pecking order" where #1 Top Dog gets first choice, #2 gets second choice, #3 ... so on and so forth. He has it especially bad being grouped with adults. Once I have seen them eat a few times and feel like they are ready, I put them in with the other young ones an see how he does in a communal setting housed in a large vivarium (50H x 28L x 14D.)They usually fit in there somewhere and do just fine but there are a couple that for whatever reason can’t cope in that situation so I will remove those and house them alone and sometimes I feel the best thing to do is to just set them free. before you freak on me let me just say I live in the Philippines, and even though I set them free (in my house or yard) I manage to keep an eye on them and have noticed that that usually corrects the problem. I will post a couple of pictures of very young babies just so you can see what a ’normal baby’ looks like. I have seen a few that looked exactly like what you described (huge head and very skinny body.) Sounds like he needs to be rescued or the shop manager needs to be educated a little bit, because if he stays in that situation much longer, chances are he is going to die. BTW you were right again, it is much better to be bitten by a baby as compared to the bite of a big adult male with an attitude!
