Hiya

Just got a Tokay gecko today from our local pet shop and would like to ask for some advise.

The guy in the pet shop says that they do not need a basking spot, is this true? Just now she just has a heat mat.

What type off heat lamp would be the best? A dayglow one that I used for my beardie and charm or a night light for heat?

Thanks

Leeann

they do need a basking (or higher temp spot) like all reptiles. i tried a UTH with mine but i couldn’t get the hot side to the right temp. i have just a basic 60W red bulb that i got from the pet store (not the infrared). it keeps the warm side between 85-95. the cool side should be 75-80. you also need to keep the humidity up some. i put a dish with some beaked moss in it, and just keep it moist. also mist him a couple times a day. i also put a wet wash cloth on half of the tank to keep the humidity in and it has helped a lot. good luck with him!
