Breeding questions I am in the process of getting a female to breed with and had some ? At the moment i have the cage on the back porch which is the same temp. as out side with shade. Other than that there is nothing controlling the temp., But i live in south Florida which is always about the right temp. anyway.( they run wild down here you know. But I know that for breeding things have to be a bit more controlled. How controlled for this particular species. Also other than plants and a little tree there is no holes or anything to hide in do they need that? Last is the male gonna be all right with the egg and/or babies. any other info would be great as well . also it is a 55 gallon tank which should be plenty of room right?

Breeding questions 55 gallons will be plenty of room for a breeding pair. However you might want an emergency back up tank just in case or at least a tank devider if they start getting agressive. The male will try to mate and become vicious if the female doesnt want to. So keep that in mind.
The temps need to be controlled and a bit higher then normal (just a few degrees) to stimulate breeding. And instead of the normal 10-12 hours of light you can keep it light longer. All this does is stimulate the breeding season.
You should remove the eggs and the hatchlings from the parents as they can hurt them. Be sure to never turn the eggs over the side facing up should always face up. Turning them can drown the growing lizard inside.
I hope that helps... if you need clarification just say so....

Breeding questions I don’t think you should remove the eggs though. They’ll be stuck with glue basically. You’d probably break them trying to take them out.
