 Fruit?

Can tokay’s be fed fruit or vegetables at all?
Also, I can’t seem to find a care sheet stating exactly what they need nutrition wise. They just say gutload crickets and mealworms and other worms. Can my gecko live off just crickets or just worms or what?

Environment: Tokay geckos are from the tropical rain forest, but the can be found at home within human habitations as well. Since they are a rain forest species a relative humidity should be around 70% to 90% and should not drop below 50%. The substrate listed above will help in keeping the humidity in the desired range. Strong plants such as croton and wax flower are recommended. The back wall of the terrarium can also be lined with bark. Split branches, cork tubes and grape wood branches can also be used.

Diet: Tokay geckos are not squeamish and will eat a wide variety of insects. Crickets should be a staple and will be relished. Wax worms, wax moths, super worms, locusts and even pinky mice will be eaten. Food should be offered every other day. Dusting of insects with a multipurpose reptile vitamin/mineral powder should be done at least every third feeding.

That really didn’t answer my question, in fact that was one of the care sheets I had found that didn’t help. If by that you meant they don’t eat fruit at all, I still need to know if they can live purely off of crickets.

Yah I dont think they eat fruits at all.
I think their main thing is crickets. Ive been feeding mine that for like 2 yrs.
Once I put a wax worm as a ’treat’ and then like 2 days later I heard something digging away in the tank....it was the meal work. Smelly Belly never ate it lol

Animals can sometimes be like humans. They can be picky.
But I dont think Tokays eat fruit.

In my experience, the only way you’ll get a tokay to eat fruit or any vegetation at all is to gut load your crickets with it beforehand. :)

Yeah, I found something that said they are strictly carnivorous. Thanks though!

Aha!

Go to the food section. Apparently this guy had a few tokays that love fruit. I know this isn’t a big deal I just wanted to know. I’m surprised since everywhere else said they are strictly carnivorous.

my two will eat mashed bananas if i have them out and hand feed them it, but if i leave it in their tank, they wont go for it... if you have a semi tame tokay and want to try... try hand feeding it, i wouldnt do it on a regular basis though, just as a once and a while treat
