Lost sticking power? My tokay can’t climb up the glass at all lately! I put him up to a wall and had him try to climb it and he just slid down and I caught him. Could this just be from stress? I’ve been taming him and he’s only been in his tank for a week.

Lost sticking power? When was the last time he shed? When they are getting ready to shed they loose their adhesive powers until they have completely shed the skin on the toepads. He could also have severly damaged toepads. The way you can tell if they are damaged is if the toepads look black. If they do, that means that the hairs on the feet that create the adhesion have been removed or degraded in some way. That is usually caused by being burnt on a heating rock or being pulled too hard while the gecko was stuck to something (the hairs pull right out and stick to the surface).
One last possibilty could be fatigued or stress. The gecko is still sticky, but he is too tired or unwilling to apply the force needed to stick. Give him a few days to relax in his home and then try handling him again.

Lost sticking power? I think he’s too stressed. They look black but they still feel sticky. I tried taking a wet cloth and moistening it in case it was dead skin and there didn’t seem to be anything to come off. Thanks for the response.

Lost sticking power? Mine used to get like that too. For me the problem was when I spray my cage down it left some filmy stuff on the glass and they just couldn’t stick to it so I wipe off the sides every now and then and they don’t have problems anymore.
