I recently purchased a Tokay Gecko from a local pet store that I had been eyeing for several months. I did all my research, and she’s at home along with all my other little geckos. She’s not near as bad as some Tokays have been made out to be, she only has taken warning bites at me, which I have managed to avoid every time (knock on wood). I have 2 quick questions about her though. For one, she’s EXTREMELY skittish. Part of the reason I think she’s not biting me, is because she is absolutely terrified of me. I understand I have only had her for 3 days, and she’s still overwhelmed by the new-ness of everything, but can any experienced tokay keepers tell me if they generally settle down in time? I’ve been trying to get her to eat out of the feeding tongs I got from work to no avail. My next question, how frequently should pinkies be fed? She’s about 9 inches long, and I’ve been giving her a few crickets nightly. I’d like to get on a more strict feeding schedule, so any advice there would greatly help. Thanks in advance! |

as far as feeding. i would only feed pinkies as a treat. my tokay won’t touch them though. i usually feed about 10-12 crickets every other day. and i dust them with calcium. |
