 A couple questions...

Hello,

I just had a couple questions I was hoping somebody could answer. I have had a Tokay Gecko for around 5 years now, and just recently I moved him from a 20 gallon tank to an 124 gallon tank. He has been in this new enclosure for a little over a week, and he seems to be somewhat becoming himself again. But there is one thing I have noticed. He seems to run away to hide in his cave every time I walk in the room, which is not how he normally acts. Should I be concerned? Or is he just freaked out still? My next question applies to me getting him a buddy for his new enclosure. Obviously I would prefer a Tokay, and I have read that Tokay’s don’t mesh well with other geckos. I have also read that males and females get along well, so what I’m getting at here is would it be OK for me to get a female at this point? Should I wait until he gets more settled in? Should I be worried because he is getting older, and maybe territorial?

he could still be adjusting also could be that he has so much more room so he has more room for hiding

2 would be fine in that especially b/c it is so large and as long as there are alot of hiding spots they should do fine just be ready to seperate if they dont get along

and definatly dont get anything other than anothr tokay you should never mix species

with such a big tank he probably feels more exposed, I’d give him a month to settle in to feel comfortable again

They freak out if they are unfamiliar with their territory. You can stick as many females as you want with your male and he’ll be cool, but put another male in there and watch it get killed overnight. If you are not 100 percent sure it is a female you better watch them.

lol i made the misstake once of putn a anole in with my first tokay and couldnt find it, bad idea to put any thing other than a femalr in or it will dissapear or be killed.a tank that size you could easly have 5 tokays in id imagine
