Tokay help!! Most tokays are wild caught and lose weight after being captured until they are shipped to a petstore or person. It might be a week until he gets used to his new home with you and starts eating. Sadly many tokays are so far gone they die. They are also often loaded with parasites if they come from the wild and that could also be why he is skinny. He is also probably dehydrated. When you spray water in his tank does he lick it up? A dehydrated lizard will often not eat. Spray lots of water on the plants and sides of your cage at least twice a day. If he doesn’t start eating within a week take him to a vet. Force feeding is really risky because you could break their jaw or their teeth off by accident very easily.

Tokay help!! i had the same problem when i first got my tokay. when i first got her she was only eating MAYBE 6 crickets per week but usually not even that. now she eats around a dozen three times a week and is healthy as ever (i need to get some new pics of her, lol). give him some time to adapt and make sure that your husbandry is correct. the warm side of the tank should be 85-90 with a basking spot of about 95 and a cool side of around 70-75 (75 is better). the humidity needs to stay at 70% or more since they are a tropical species and make sure to keep some water on the plants and walls of the cage (like the person before me said). i would also consider getting a fecal done just in case. it usually only costs between 10 and 15 dollars so it doesn’t hurt to check. o, and make sure that you are always dusting and gut loading the food you are feeding him so when he does eat he is sure to get plenty on nutrients.

Tokay help!! if your husbandry is right, i would suspect possibly parasites, so i would have a fecal done. of course if he’s not eating that may be an issue so you may have to syringe feed him anyways. you can mash up crickets but you can also get Insectivore/Carnivore Care at a pet store. it’s a powder that you mix with water to feed them. it has lots of calories and vitamins and all and is used for sick animals that either aren’t eating or are in need of gaining weight. but i would def get a fecal test done or atleast a vet check if a fecal is not possible at the moment

Tokay help!! If you can get him to open his mouth on his own( not hard if he’s not tame) drop in a superworm and push down the throat a little with tweezers. If he bites down pull out the tweezers gently and stroke the throat in a downward fashion several times so the worm will go down. If he dosent bite down close it with your fingers and stroke the throat as mentioned above. Put him back and watch to see if he pukes it up. He shouldnt. If he does try again. If you think he’s not drinking you can put 1 drop of water in his mouth when you feed him the worm. No more than that though or he might drown. A few hours later repeat this. Try to do this at least 3 times a day every other day. Unless he is big enough you can put 2 or 3 worms in at a time. Then you just have to do it once. Just try to get at least 3 worms in him every other day. You can also do this with crickets. Soon he will be eating on his own, this just keeps him from dying until then. Note: careful if you ever try to pry open the mouth, you can break teeth or his jaw. Also keep spraying the cage with alot of water twice a day so he can drink it even if you give him water yourself.
