Looking for help with temp. and humidity I just got a Tokay this week and want to make sure all his needs are being met. His habitat looks like this: 24"x12"x26" Moss bedding, large water dish, wooden log hide spot, fake tree branch, and fake vine with leaves. There is a 50 watt lamp on the top left of the habitat which I keep on about 10 hours daily. All sides of the terrarium are screen so the habitat "breathes" with the air in the room. The temperature and humidity are 78 and 50 respectively, measured at the middle of the habitat. He seems to like the temperature and I have seen him climb up and down the side to regulate his heat; right now he is sleeping around the middle of the habitat underneath the light. I’m worried about the humidity though, since it needs to be higher from what I’ve read. I mist the habitat frequently throughout the day and night but it never seems to get much higher than 50. I have those cheap plastic meters reading the temp. and humidity. How can I raise the humidity for him other than misting? My house is fairly warm although it is cold outside. Should I buy a humidifier for my room? Is there anything about my habitat that needs to be changed so he is safer? Thanks.. this is my first reptile and I want to make sure I’m doing everything right. Thanks!

Looking for help with temp. and humidity your temp is good for a cool side, there needs to be a basking spot of 85-90, but no more than 95. the humidity needs to be 70-80%. they are tropical species and need this high humidity. you will need to cover all but one side of your enclosure with something. either foil, siran wrap (you can still see him then), or put plexi on it.

Looking for help with temp. and humidity If I drape a towel or bed spread around all sides but the front will this do the trick? Or will cloth absorb the water. Also, the first day I had him I was using a 100 watt light and he would go to the opposite side of the habitat, looking like maybe it was too hot? Or was this maybe because he just had a car trip and was scared in his new environment?
