New habitat and maybe a silly question

The probably silly question: I always tend to worry about my pets and how happy they are and, although it’s probably a dumb question.. will my Tokay be lonely? I think its a female because of its smaller size, and she seems to spend a lot of her waking time in the corner closest to me, staring at me playing xbox or do work. Would she be happier with another female? I feel like a child asking that kind of question but I want her to be as happy as possible!
The second question is to make sure I’m meeting her humidity needs. Here is the new terrarium specs: 29 gallon glass tank with screen top, plexi glass covering approximately 2/3 of the top leaving room for the lights, moss substrate, fake plants and vines, water dish, hide spot, and fake branch. Is there anything else I can do to keep the humidity up? The humidity fluctuates between 25-85% depending on when I last misted it. I have to mist it relatively often, but i don’t mind.. maybe 5-6 times a day. This isn’t too difficult as I am a college student and have a lot of spare time, but is there any other way to keep the humidity up? I live in a cold winter area and I know its not humid outside because my knuckles are cracking.. I use a 75 watt light during the day and 40 watt red light at night (day temperature is about 85, night is 75) The light is on the left side of the habitat so she can regulate her temperature. Thanks so much for the help.. I know it’s a lot of questions and worries.. My first reptile :)

I don’t think she’ll be lonely. I have a male, and he seems to enjoy watching us, or the cats.

There’s coconut fiber in the bottom of our tank, it’s been there since we’ve gotten my guy, and it seems to be holding humidity steady about 63% without misting. Everything I’ve read says between 40 and 80%. He also has a larger shallow water dish in there, that I risk my fingers to rinse out and fill twice a day, because he kicks dirt into it after he drinks.

Good luck :)

New habitat and maybe a silly question

Hello, you mentioned on having a male tokay. Does he call often? or does he only call at night?
Does placing a male with a female limit the calling?
Thanks,
Carl

New habitat and maybe a silly question

Hi lizardsrus, Our male is new, he hasn’t been with us for a month yet,( he is two years old) so we haven’t heard him call. But he used to with his previous owner, and he was right beside the bed, so I don’t think it was too overly loud.

Placing a female with the male may limit the calling, but could also stress out the female, if he tries to over breed her.

If you google "Tokay/ gecko sounds" there are a few sites that have a recording of the sounds they make, alone with a few other gecko sounds too.

Good luck :)

my male calls day and night. If you are thinking about getting a female to quiet him just be 100% sure you are getting a female. I could never visually sex my gecko, the only reason I know he is a male is because of the mating calls. Someone on here last year got a female for their male that turned out to also be a male and their male ripped his bottom jaw off in territory battle, so please be careful !!

My tokay loves to watch TV !! I highly suggest keeping him in an area where he has lots to watch, either people or tv. They are very inquisitive !! I think as long as they are not bored to death they will be okay living alone.
