 A little help??

We’ve gotten a Tokay from someone who was just needing to downsize. Captain, is a very healthy feisty two year old male. We’ve had him for about three weeks, and we were told that he was due for a pinkie last week, but I couldn’t find any. I have one now, but am not sure how to go about getting him to eat it. He devours crickets almost as soon as they land in his tank.

I tried to feed it to him with tongs, but he is so feisty he snapped at it, then me, and ran to hide. Yes I know it’s their nature to dislike people, that’s all fine, we love him anyways.

Was just hoping someone could suggest some other way to get him to eat this thing lol.

I put food in a bowl for my guy and he comes and gets it when he wants. I don’t feed him pinkys but that’s how i give him waxworms.

I left the pinkie on his rock all night but he didn’t touch it..... I had emailed him, but he must be busy cause it’s the first time he didn’t respond. I will be trying again when I figure it out.

I wouldn’t be worried about it not eating a pinky. My guy is pretty hefty and he’s never had one before. Try waxworms or silkworms if you get the chance.

Apparently he won’t eat those either, but will eat meal worms, and crickets, he loves crickets lol. So I’ve been picking out the bigger juicier crickets for him while we wait for some mealies to come in.

I did hear back from his previous owner, he said he went without feeding him for three or four days then placed a pinkie in there. Which is probably why he wouldn’t eat it for me, I feed him every night.
