had about a week and a half and looks terrible and i cannot get it to eat and it is getting skinnier and seems very dehydrated..any ideas?

what is your set up like? your temps? your humidity?

have you been handling him since you got him? if so, dont bother him. he needs to adjust.

you may have to get him to the vet.

but any other info you can post would be nice.

Chances are he came to you full of parasites, they are famous for it. Especially if it came from a pet store........ most of those are wild caught. A vet visit would be best

I put him in a temporary 10 gallon tank because i wanted to QT him for a month before i put him in with my female to see if they would get along and or possibly breed. I just put newspaper on the bottom to start out with and have been misting him daily. I usually lift up the clay pot i use as a hide and mist him as well but other then that I have not been handling him at all or bothering him. He has a 60 watt heat light that sits on top and has some fake plants in there as well. I did get him from a pet store and they had just got him in a few days before the person working said but he was in a tiny critter keeper for some reason that he was taller then the tank and it was loaded with about 20 crickets in there as well.

60 watt on a 10 gallon is too hot ! Unless it is far back from the tank change it out. I only use a 75 watt to heat my tokay tank and it’s 125 gallons. They need to be able to get away from the heat when needed. Do you have a thermometer in there ?

NO i just got it. its a temporary cage. i wanted to move it to a 20 tall or a 40 breeder with my other one but it just wont eat or anything and just hides under the clay pot.

Just make sure you move the light back, you don’t want to cook the little guy lol
Try putting some superworms in a bowl, my tokay loves em and they help pack on weight much better than crickets

Also before you put them in together (hopefully a month or 2) make sure you are sure about the sexes. Someone on here put 2 males together thinking one was a female and the one ripped the others jaw right off !!!! It died, poor guy.

damn that sucks. Well i posted pictures a while back... i just bumped it for you of the girl ive had for a while now. I have never heard a barking noise from i assume her in the year that i have had her in my room. ill try superworms today and see if he will be interested.

ive probably had it for 2 years. im sure the new one is a male because i had them take it out at the pet store and check and i posted pictures of the supposed female and everyone thought it was a female so hopefully.
