 How old for the male to make calls?

I have (i think) 1 female and 1 male in my tank. The female is nearly 2 years old, the male is not quite a year. I hear NO calls so far and am wondering if i in fact have 1 male. He may be possibly too young yet, or he won’t because he is actually a SHE. Does anyone out there know when a male typically starts to call?

I don’t think there is a set age but my guy started at about 2 years old. He’s extremely vocal now !! I’ve had him almost 4 years

okay then, that would have made him 2 yrs old when he started, since you had him for 4.
Hummm... I hope i don’t have to wait that long. I was told that they don’t call until sexually mature, but no one could tell me when that was. Does your guy call throughout the year, or only during the Spring? Someone also told me that they don’t call all year-round. Thanks!!

He calls day and night, YEAR round ! He never used to call much but then I got him a HUGE tank 2’X2’X5’ and now he never shuts up!

I’ve had him since he was 12 days old
