Sick Tokay I know I’m going to sound like a perfect idiot but that’s okay. I have a tokay, have had it for about 3 yrs, haven’t had any problems with him. Yes, he’s very aggressive, so he’s basically a look but don’t handle type pet. He’s been eating crickets and pinky mice very well. About a month ago, I had to relocate him to a different room in my house (my neice came to live with me and needed a bedroom, up until then my reptiles had their own room) He ate fine for a little while then went into shed. He still hasn’t shed completely and he looks like he’s going to die any minute. He will still eat crickets but won’t touch a pinky mouse. He acts like he’s dehydrated. I can’t understand the change. The only different thing is his location, same tank and everything. The closest reptile vet to me doesn’t really know anything about tokays and he’s not really wanting to see him. Any thoughts on the matter would be helpful, perhaps you can think of something I haven’t.

Sick Tokay Is the tank lower or higher in the new room then it was in the old room? I ask this because I raised a male from a pup in a 15 gallon tank that was 6 feet off the ground, when he was 15 inches I moved him down to a larger tank 3 feet off the ground and he was never the same. These guys are arborial if they are not higher then you I think they feel very uncomfortible, when I moved the tokay to his 15 gallon he was fine.try putting some height to his tank.Good luck.

Sick Tokay Fent, thanks for your advice...but he passed away a couple of nights ago. My husband thinks it was just stress. We moved about a year ago and it took our tokay about 4 months to adjust that time. I suppose stress is an easy out but I honestly can’t think of any other reason unless it was some sort of cancer or something.

Sick Tokay your tokay, they need to be wet more then dry. they need something that puts off a mists so they don’t dry out, an a spray bottle helps with the dead skin, removal, it falls off easyer.
