Picking them up I know handling reptiles causes some stress...however i wanted to pick up my bigger tokay (not my smaller one cause my room is too messy to catch the smaller one if he gets out of my grip) at least once a week...is there a way to do it?....Like do i slowly grab it at the neck then support the waist? so this way i don’t get bit?

Picking them up no never grab a reptile by the neck when you are picking them up try just putting your hand in there, if they feel they are in no danger they should come up to you, or you could just pick em up put your hand under the belly and just pick em up and use 2 hands so they don’t jump and hurt themselves, just never pick them up by the tail.

Picking them up On the caresheet that I got from the breeder of mine says to put your hand out so they can walk onto it. I’m sure the lizard would be less stressed out if it was his/her choice to be held

Picking them up Just for the record, Smiley has been with me for over a year, but he was pretty vicious when I first got him. Took him little over six months too stop biting off my knuckles. Now he’s practically cuddly(for a reptile). Just have patience, and be careful for your sake and your Tokay’s.

Picking them up Oh, not to freak you out unnecessarily, my girlfriend says Tokay’s eat other geckos. I only heard that much, so I ,by no means, have any solid basis for this hypothesis, I just thought I’d throw out an idea like a fuse less pipe-bomb. I fed mine a common wall gecko(south Texas), and he/she ate it quicker than a cricket. The smaller Tokay in your pic is the same size diff that my common/Tokay were at. Any fights?

Picking them up now that I’ve been picking him up more he keep locking his jaw on my gloves!!! haha it’s cool cause then I get to pet him all I want. I even took my other glove off so I could pet him with my bare hands.....I don’t think he liked it too much. here are some pictures from our last holding (day before yesterday)

I finally got my glove off cause Chewy would NOT let go hahaha!!! and he sat there with my glove in his mouth for about 30 minutes.....wouldn’t even let go when I left the room for 20.
but in the end I got him to sit nicely in my hand and he walked off of it and onto his branch. I thought it was a good end to a rough hour LOL

Picking them up I wish I had my digital camera back when Smiley used to draw blood. You can barely see their teeth, but they are pretty darn sharp! I still have a few fading scars. She’s a sweetheart now.

To little Tell that to the bleeding bite wounds I received the first time I tried to pick her up. That’s like saying a scalpel blade is to small to do any damage. Post pics of your SIXTEEN INCH MALE. Maybe we can have a big bad macho who’s got the biggest herp contest. I’m going to the Zoo to hijack an alligator or maybe an anaconda. Talk at ya later. Is this big enough?

To little I’m still waiting for pics of the "sixteen inch male". Personally, it sounds like B.S. to me. If he’s got such a big Tokay, I’m sure all of us would enjoy seeing it. I’d be surprised if any pics come up.

To little Dangit! I keep forgetting that if you delete a pic from your image hosting site that it removes them from where you posted them. Doh!
