The house gecko hides in the tunnel/hole and doesnt come out but moves it position inside there. He came out with the light on and went by water and then scurried back in. He will not come out i went to touch him he moved around but wont come out. We are having a hard time keeping the humdity up though to . So im a newbie so can u help????????????

House gecko help Hi, I have two adult, female house geckos and 3 hatchlings.. 1/2 a year exp. I usually mist their tanks atleast 2-3 times a day and that seems to be enough... I keep a hand towel over 2/3 of the top of the tank to keep the humidity up... they hide alot the first few weeks after you get them... they are not handle-able (fragile) and are usually too quick to catch.... primarily noctural... they’re great to watch hunt but not really interactive... Try not to invade its tank for a few days and it will be more likely to come out.... what are you feeding them? and what kind of tank setup do you have for him/her? don’t know anything about anoles...

House gecko help Are they all kept together?
It’s a bad idea to get reptiles without doing research FIRST. Leave the gecko alone for awhile. You’re a lot bigger than him/her and it takes them time to adjust. Feed him/her of course, in the evening, but try not to poke at them. A towel over the tank definitely helps. I have to do that sometimes. I also have moss that I keep damn at all times in the tank, which helps. The more foliage the better when it comes to humidity, and your gecko would enjoy it to. Without overcrowding with plants of course.
Quote: what are you feeding them? and what kind of tank setup do you have for him/her?
Tank size, decor, etc. Pic if possible.

House gecko help MissSkythegecko- No, I don’t keep them all together... the hatchlings are in one tank and the adults in another... they seem happy that way and its safer for the babies... I guess they really aren’t hatchlings anymore.. edging toward juvenile... they eat small crickets and meal worms... and one of them is almost big enough to put in with the other adults... haven’t sexed the babies yet.. but its probably too soon to tell anyway... do you know when to sex them? Was unable to find that info...
Here’s a couple pics of my adults Sam II (the darker one) and Speedy...

And one of my babies...

House gecko help Raven, I think MStG’s message was directed towards the thread maker, who stated that they purchased two types of anoles and a house gecko, then says the house gecko is acting strangely. If the house gecko is housed with the other species, it may stress to death from it or the two species may transfer parasites to one another.

Right... I guess I just figured that anyone would know you can’t keep other species together... But they also said they were a beginner too... (shrugs) Anyway.. I also just wanted to show my geckos to someone else, that might care... cause no one else seems to....

Derek_18mt: you’re welcome.. and yes they are house geckos... both are female and one was pregnant when I bought her... she laid 2 clutches of eggs 2 at a time, but upon moving one from one tank to the other I accidentally broke one.. I was so sad... Do you have pics of your setup or gecko yet?
Please post them if you do... I’d love to see someone else’s... ^x~ Small crickets I hope.. never feed them any that are wider than the gap between their eyes or they might choke... They love meal worms for a treat! Mine always get excited after they realize I put some in their bowl...

House gecko help if you have pics on your comp. you can upload them to this server at the "photo server".. go there, pick "add new", browse for your pic, enter in the proper place, submit.. then go to "photo list" and find the http//... copy that, go back to you post, click image, then paste the http//, then hit end image...
that’s how I do it... will take a few tank pics soon and post one...
later...
p.s. How do you have your tank set up? and you are keeping the anoles seperate from your gecko right?

 Here’s the adults tank...

Most people will tell you fish tank rocks are not a good idea for geckos ’cause they might accidently swallow it and cause impactaition(obstruction of the bowel) and could kill them... but so far I haven’t had any problems... the rocks must be too big for them to swallow.. they dig through them to hunt for crickets, its really cool to watch..
Here’s the babies tank...

Here’s one of the baby when he was really little...

This is his big brother..

And another.. He’s only about 3 inches long...

and one of my fav’s of him..

And one of their mother Sam II...

That’s enough for now I think....
Later..

House gecko help
That is correct. Some anoles and geckos can be ket together. I have 3 brown anoles, 1 green anole, 2 adult house geckos, and 1 baby hatchling house gecko. All the anoles and geckos have been together for quite some time now. However when the baby hatched one of the brown anoles tried to attack it. She was being teritorial over a limb she sits on. so it is a good idea to separate babies from adults for their own safety. My baby has yet to eat also, but I think when they fisrt come out of the egg, they have some adjusting to do.
