 Should I be concerned...?

I think my gecko just sneezed.. One of my house geckos made this funky high pitched noise.. It wasn’t fighting with the other and doesn’t look hurt.... It kinda sounded like a sneeze... anyway, is it getting sick? should I be concerned at all?

I haven’t seen any discharge as of yet.. I notice that they make a high pitched rattle sound when they argue... and resently the less dominant one has been making a kind of chirping noise sometimes when they bicker... and fighting back more... I’m still unclear as to what sex they are... neither has the two bumps that males have on most gecko species, but no one seems to know how to sex house geckos for sure.... with no bumps I assume they are both female, but the more dominant of the two seems to act more like a male... less skiddish, fatter, and of course acting dominant... Do you, or anyone else know how to sex them?

Which species are they? I have Hemidactylus frenatus (the common ones from Petco and pet stores).
Depending on which ones you have, it may be a bit different.

They won’t have the bulges like you see in other geckos, but the males have very distinct scales with preanal pores. I’ve been able to sex them with success just by looking for the pores. If you can get a grip on them, flip them over and use a loupe to see.

Common house geckos from petco... I don’t catch them...they move too fast and irratic and I’ve had to catch them on 4 different occasions after they’d escaped... what’s a loupe anyway? and what do the pores look like... do you have pics or could you find some?

a loup is also a jewlers lense its usually about 8x magnification... if you type in jewlers loupe in a image search engine youll see what they are... that or if you can get them in a clear container or on the side of the tank where you can easily see their bellies you can also use photographers lenses.. thats what i use for cresties as its easier for me to hold and i can sometimes get the cresties to actually sit on the lense long enough to check without having to hold them lol but cresties are alot slower than house geckos

Oh... Cool, I’ll look into that... The only lense even close to that I have is a normal magnifying glass... But I still don’t know what the pores look like.. Does anyone have a pic of male house gecko pores?

They’re not fighting bad enough to seperate them... They’ve lived together for the last 6-7 months and only bicker when they want the same spot....
