 Lost sticky

Anyone else have a gecko whom can no longer stick on glass..... My Gargoyle gecko Can no longer stick on the glass of his tank, He can, however, stick on to the fake plant in his cage, but not that well. He doesn’t seem to be able to climb things straight up. I was told to use something called Bio-spray. Anyone here know what that is or how well it works? If so is there some place online I could order it from seeing as i could not find it at any pet stores. Also just for the record I’ve had him since the end of December. He appears to have a birth defect (A crook in his spine) However he was able to climb things well when I first got him, and it doesn’t seem to affect anything he does. He’s shed once, (And ate it) A little bit of shed stuck to the end of one of his toes, I Placed him in a "Deli Cup" With a damp paper towel and it came off. He did have problems climb glass before that happened though. Any help is much appreciated!

Your gecko will shed every 3 weeks to every month, so I’m certain that he’s shed at least three more times since you got him and you simply never noticed due to the quickness and edibility of the shed.

There are three reasons your gargoyle cannot climb that are very common:

1. Your gecko is going to shed soon. Sometimes they will loose their climbing ability before the shed for up to three days. It’s common and some people freak due to it, but it’s, well, common. After the shed the stick ability will come back. If it doesn’t, check the toes of the gecko for loose shed and gently clean it off with a damp q-tip and/or some tweezers.

2. You are misting your tank too much and the walls are too wet. Equate it to the gecko trying to climb up a waterfall.

3. You are not misting your tank enough and the walls are too dry. Opposite of 2. This will also result in a trouble with wall climbing.

Check to make sure these 3 are not the reasons for the problem. If this has been going on for actual weeks, then it could be that the gecko isn’t feeling well or is stressed and will no climb due to it. But I seriously doubt this is the problem from what you’ve been telling.

it sounds like hes either getting ready to shed again, possibly has stuck shed on the pads of his feet where its hard to see or the humidity isnt high enough..

try upping the ammount of times you mist by once or twice more and see if that helps

1. How can you tell if your gecko is about to shed? I’ve never had a Lizard before, so I’m unsure of the signs. But if it is caused by when he is about to shed wouldn’t that mean he’d climb on the glass after he sheds?

2/3. I Mist the tank fairly well at night and mist it once in the morning.

As for not feeling well or being stress he does climb up on the screen side of the tank, and like i said he climbs on the plants, but when he attempts to climb on the glass his feet just don’t stick, and he was only able to climb the glass for the first two weeks I had him.

with gargs. it can be hard to tell when they are going to shed sometimes by looks alone since they can turn almost paperwhite sometimes... basically they usually look grey when they are darker,, if you look closely by the "arm pits" you can sometimes see the old skin is starting to lift off, they cant grip very well, and when you hold them they feel really dry...

it can be caused by him going into shed but if he doesnt get all that shed off the bottom of his toe pads when he does shed it sits there and makes him not stickey so even if he sheds everything else fine and theres no shed wrapped around his toes there still can be some on the bottom of the toes that you dont see
