I’m on a budget, what should I get?

As soon as my hermit crabs are out of my house my parents will let me buy myself a lizard. Anykind that can fit in a 10 or maybe 20L tank. Hence me posting in the gecko forum, small lizard generally means gecko.
I have no job or source of money but I manage to keep around 9 USD in my wallet.
He has the tank limit for lizard size but I mention those tanks exactly because those are the ones I had for my hermits. (But if the lizard is a climber I’m sure I could manage to buy a 10 gallon sized tank thats vertical. Or flipping the 10gal onthe side)
Now I am a newbie but I can handle harder care ones. Not too too hard but still. I had a crestie who pasted quickly at a young age from a disease so I am rather tempted not to get that kind of lizard. I help convice myself to not get a crestie because they are rather exspensive compared to leos.
Leos seem like the best bet for me. One at a time and if it turns out to be a female I might be able to talk my way into a second girl.

Now to the hermit crab issue.
They are getting a good or great home, thats for sure. My friend is waitng for a parent answer and if they say no then I have some great guys on the hermit forum to take them.

So please mention some other geckos for me that are cheap. Common in petco is not a must, I know another source who will bring them in.

No gecko is cheap, and it sounds like you’re just buying a lizard to fill tank space. I honestly would recommend that you don’t buy a lizard of any kind and, instead, wait until you get older and have a job. A lizard is a living animal and not a toy, you must have money for it at all times in case an emergency happens. What would happen if the gecko got sick and your nine dollars could not pay for the fifty to eighty dollar vet visit (for the first one, with possible checkups). How will you afford taking the lizard to the vet annually? What if you do not buy everything ahead of time (which can be costly in itself), how will you purchase the needed accessories? Would you even be willing to change the tank for the better? Are you willing to live with this lizard for the ten to twenty+ years it’s going to be with you? Or will it end up like your hermit crabs?

Your entire post sounds like you are not ready yet for one.

On the by, I think you have a reputation. Didn’t you cause problems in the hermit crab forum by stuffing many together and painting them?

I’m on a budget, what should I get?

Actully I did have a little thing in the hermit forum but it wasn’t anything about hurting them. It was I couldn’t upgrade to a 10 gallon tank for wayy to long because of my cash flow but I got it and even upgraded them from that as well.
It is not because I am tried of my hermits at all. My beloved crested past. I did no get a new one. Now I am ready for a gecko again. I know it was a sickness it got before I bought it and it wasn’t my fault. (I was crying for days over killing the little thing) When I started asking my parents again they changed their minds and chose no. Then eventually they gave me the choice: Hermits or Gecko
It was hard to make the choice to give the crabs up but I knew that they were right, if I got a new pet the crabs would suffer. So then I had to make the choice of which I liked better. I chose the gecko. I was thinking about giving them to a RZ guys but when I asked friends I got a maybe. The girl had actually somehow managed to get her old hermits to breed before they past. That is incredibly hard to do because the crabs need to fell comfortable. I was so relieved. She is still awaiting a parent approval.
Please, I am beyond ready for a gecko. I researched a lot of geckos before I got my crested. That is why I know that I am a good match for leos and cresties and maybe a house or something. I would like to know what you guys think.
I did not make this post to have someone tell me that I am not ready after waiting a year after the loss of my crested to regroup and did it again.
And like I said I have a bunch of money at the moment and my birthday money is coming soon. ($100 each year just from gram) so my parents will take IOUs for up to 100. My cash inflow it slow but it is there. I am saved up and ready for the about $150 cost. (reptic carpet, moist hide, feed. just about everything else i have already)
Please don’t act like I’m a three year old who gets bored of pets after 2 weeks. I had the crabs for about 5 years. If I got bored of them I wouldn’t have bought more and upgraded their tank.
And now, how can you stoop so low to bring up my past? I mean for soo long the crabs have been great. You have to go and dig up a bad past. Havn’t you ever been 10 and told that you can keep hermit crabs in painted shells in critter keepers? My bad for believeing Petco employees at the age of 10...
Okay so please, only serious and helpful replies. I understand that you voiced your opinion but it had too much assuming on my character.

Any good setup for a gecko and the gecko itself will usually pass that range, unless provided you already have everything ready, and you’d just need food. Still, I would wait until you have a steady income before you get another animal.

OMG, don’t get anther lizard...After the poor care of Sydney and the then the hermit crabs you would think that you would get it. I hate to be mean here but you are not a reptile person! Some people can keep them w/ success, others cant. Stick with your dogs since your family has no problem with taking them to the vet but wont take "POCKET PETS" tell they are dieing and cant be helped. I know you want a BD but thank goodness your dad wont let you. STOP BUYING ANIMALS, PLEASE!

okay seriously, how the hell did i kill Sydney? I mean seriously. It was sick when I bought it. I didn’t notice because I was just excited that I was getting a gecko. (I call Syndey ’it’ because it was too young to tell) Now seriously how is this: Link :taking bad care of my hermit crabs? and Sydney was sick and I was treating it and it just didnt get better. Syd stopped eating and then started to not breathe and that when I said enough and just gave Syd to Petco to treat (thats what they said, if not at least Syd’s death wouldn’t be too harsh)

Now, like seriously, all you people do is bomb me. I couldn’t give my crabs the best care in the begining but then I did. They have it and they are thriving.

And I had the choice at one point to give up Sydney and take a different gecko but I couldn’t. I knew that Syd would just die and I didn’t like that thought. I gave Syd a second chance, treated ’em and it just didn’t work...

Please, I don’t know why I am even still on this site. You guys remeber when that girl made a mistake and don’t remeber when she cleaned up her act and let her pets thrive.

I suggest you read, and read and read on a certain type of gecko and then if you TRULY think you are ready then come back tell us your plan and we will help you out. You must be prepaired to spend money for vet visits ect before you even THINK about a gecko. please dont take this the wrong way, just you may not be ready yet.

The reason I’m so hard on you is this was a on and on thing for weeks with your last gecko...well all told you what to do (it should have worked if you had done it WHEN we told you) and I was one of the few people at the time who was nice at the time...I’m done. Fool me once...fool me twice.
Once you get a pet and set it up right from the start (w/ a new pet vet visit) and have ALL the info good from the start then I will relent and be happy. I’m sure your pets will be as well.

I had a perfectly fine start with Syd. Fine set up for it’s size and stuff. Crabs, I had them and found this site later. And it was still the first month with Syd so yeah. I dunno. Just thanks I guess. At least you care about the animals care and stuff. And my parents werent conviced that the gecko needed to go to the vet so it was incredibilly hard to get them to go.
Again, just thanks, you only mean to help.
