Need Info Please I would also like to know which of these are communal, and can be housed together. I know most pet stores house many animals together, however most of the time it is just them trying to save money, so i would like to know your opinions and answers for which of the above mentioned can truely be housed together safely!
Thanks again,
Robb

Need Info Please House, crested, AFTs, and I believe bibrons can be communal, but only to the same species and only to females. Ie, don’t mix species unless you want heart break and unless you want eggs don’t put males and females together. Males of any gecko species will kill eachother. I could be wrong about crested geckos and you’ll probably need a second opinion.
As for how big they get, are you asking for their approximated size or their minimum tank size? There is a difference. Some geckos don’t grow to the average size and it all depends on where they come from and how they’re grown. For example, golden geckos can get to be a foot in length. However mine is barely at 10 inches and after his first year here he only grew to be 8 to 9 inches. Another example is in leopard geckos, which come in different size ranges (normal, giant, super giant).
I would also like to know your gecko experience thus far.

Need Info Please I was wondering about the size to which they reach, I have no experience in Geckos, I currently own 10 Tarantulas, ranging from G. rosea to H. lividum and H. maculata. As well I also own 1 CB male Red Tail Boa, 3 Bearded Dragons, (housed Seperately) 1 adult Male, two juvies opposite sexed and from different breeders, I plan on breeding them once they reach approx. 2 years old. My college Market Professor knows I am into alot of exotic animals, and He himself owns a Tokay Gecko, so for my assignment I needed to know the size they reach (Snout to Tail) Then I plan on graphing it onto an Excel graph. But anyways I was not actually planning on getting into Gecko’s atleast not yet, I am going to wait a little while longer, mainly for financial reasons, I am trying to get enough money to support myself on my own in the next year or two (I’m 19 if your wondering). Thank you for the info on the Communal species, I honestly was not sure, Especially from the mixed messages Pet stores give out, by housing House Geckos, with other geckos, including crested, flying, and also Golden. It was a big enclosure, but none the less It was still different species of Gecko in one tank.
I found alot if info on the sizes as well BTW, so it shouldnt be necessary for you to go to the trouble of finding out each avg size, probably should have started out with that lol. Anyways have a good one,
Thanks,
Robb

Need Info Please it’s all good. I hope your project goes well! You should have fun finding the sizes of different genders of species as well. Sometimes male geckos grow larger than females (marbled gecko, for example).
And yeah, petstores are idiots. They cram many into one tank to save space. The stress from so many together keeps them from instantly killing eachother as they don’t have room to clearly establish territories. But it also leads to parasites going crazy and starvation/bullying. A house gecko with a golden would end up with a well-fed golden ;) If a large gecko is put with a smaller one, the smaller one could easily end up getting eaten, killed, or both. I purchased my marbled and golden from a ’communal’ petstore tank and both nearly died from the hefty parasite amount. Even the vet was surprised. It took me months of forcefeeding and deworming to save their lives (they’re in separate tanks).
Good luck on your project =]
Oh, if you ever get a gecko in the future, I highly recommend crested gecko or AFT.

Need Info Please thanks for the info guys, While doing some of the research I must admit I am much more fond of Geckos than I was before, I especially like the Bibron’s Geckos, and the Flying Geckos. Both looked very nice and had a good size to them as well. And i also found out that with Cat geckos the males are actually much smaller, it was pretty cool. Anyways thanks again for the info! It was greatly appreciated, who knows maybe I’ll put off moving and get myself a gecko instead, lol.
